In Kandinsky’s wise words, “Color is a power that directly impacts the soul”. That is what Alexis Mabille did while unveiling Color-addict, his latest Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2023 collection during Paris Fashion Week.
Walking into the iconic Christie’s on Avenue Matignon, was undoubtedly an experience. Different rooms connected by doors served as the runway for this much-anticipated collection.
Alexis Mabille is the definition of craft, attention to detail, and imagination. All of these characteristics play a starring role in each and every single one of his designs. He creates effortless silhouettes that embody femininity and strength.
Thirty-six looks walked down the runway showcasing a stunning array of colors. From an asymmetrical neckline dress in golden mesh to a long sheath dress in a bright orange crepe, every look had an effortless quality to them, yet could not hide the hours of work needed to produce such garments.
A masterclass in color, but also in texture and flow. To say that this collection is only about the color, would be an understatement. One can see that Alexis Mabille has a relationship with each of his designs. An intimate touch, a memory, a past experience perhaps that allows him to bring magical designs to life.
The last look was a long backless sheath dress in embroidered organza with multicolored patterns. The perfect kaleidoscopic choice to close the collection.
I look forward to witnessing Alexis’s evolution. He is an artist who has clearly honed the skills to produce great work, but it is his vulnerability and sensitive spirit that speaks clearly through his collection, impacting us all.
