Just like a sprout that pushes out from the earth for its first contact with the crisp air, Cindy Chao’s exquisite collection is just that, a breath of fresh air. A talent so rare, she became the first and only Asian jewelry artist to receive the French honor of Chevalier dans L’Ordre des Arts et Lettres.

Faithful to her essential qualities “architectural, sculptural, and organic”, Cindy Chao unveiled her latest collection during Paris Haute Couture Week.

Hôtel de la Marine served as an iconic host to Chao’s Black Label Masterpieces as well as some pieces from the White Label collection.

2022 Black Label Masterpiece X and XI Spring Cardamom Brooches, encapsulate the vitality and hope of a new Spring.

Seeing Chao’s masterpieces in person was somewhat of an out-of-body experience. I am a lover of jewelry, crystals, and gems, but these pieces are like no other.

During my conversation with Chao, we discussed her organic process when creating a new piece. In her own words “I search for ideas, inspiration comes on its own”. CC.

Sometimes she starts working with a gem, while others she creates the sculpture and mold, and the choice of materials follows. Her work is museum-caliber art. To own a piece by Cindy Chao is to own a part of history. Her sculptural craftsmanship and architectural composition have enamored even the most avid collectors.

She is an artist and a dreamer. Her pieces are regal yet convey an effortlessness that is incomparable.

I will never forget the emotional impact it had on me. To witness these Masterpieces in such a beautiful space, cradled and protected as if floating among the walls of the space was truly special.

I look forward to Chao’s continuous reinvention. Gem by gem she continues to make the world a more beautiful place.
