GUNTHER 1995
Article by Miguel Sagaz.
Gunther 1995, a collection by Naomi Gunther who designs for a man who is confident about pushing the boundaries of style.
Paris Fashion Menswear Week has proved that when it comes to fashion and style rules no longer apply. If there were any really, to begin with.
Showcasing a variety of styles that go beyond gender, Gunther is able to push the boundaries of menswear in an exciting and rebellious way.
Different proportions, textures, and colors offer the Gunther customer an imaginative array of new and progressive pieces. Even though every look was thought out in every way, each garment possesses an element of effortlessness that is sometimes hard to find in today’s market.
To wear a Gunther piece is to tell a story. You will be noticed. There is nothing tame about the collection. Even classic pieces like a long coat or a casual sweatshirt, play with silhouettes and proportions, making them anything but ordinary. And let’s face it, who wants to feel ordinary anyway?.
The show’s 90’s vibe was infectious and quite nostalgic. Like the collection, everything felt new, yet had a clear nod to the past. Even the little box of cereal was perhaps connected to Gunther’s childhood. I know that at least it was part of mine.
Gunther allowed us through her collection to reminisce about a time when dreams were dreamt. Perhaps while looking at the little box of cereal each morning before school. That longing to escape the daily routine, and live an exciting and colorful life.
I look forward to seeing Naomi Gunther’s work on the runway and in the streets, where fashion truly shines.
